SUMMARY:4th International Conference on Dynamics of Disaster\, DOD 2019
DESCRIPTION:Humans experience a wide array of disasters that generally fall into two categories: natural disasters such as hurricanes\, earthquakes\, tsunamis\, volcanic eruptions\, etc.; and unnatural\, or man-made\, disasters such as wars\, explosions\, wildfires\, chemical spills\, etc. Such disasters wreak havoc and provoke extensive and large-scale devastation\, and carry extremely serious financial repercussions for nations\, organizations\, and individuals. \nThe study of dynamics of disasters is an important and worthwhile endeavour\, with huge benefits for everyone. Join us in beautiful Kalamata\, Greece on July 1 to 5\, 2019\, where experts share the latest findings on natural and unnatural disasters. We extend an invitation for those studying topics related to disasters to submit an abstract and paper and everyone to register to attend this fascinating and must-see conference.

SUMMARY:ISCRAM 2019 in Valencia\, Spain
DESCRIPTION:16th International Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management\n\n\n\n\n\n\nISCRAM is a forum where researchers and practitioners from all around the world meet every year to share experiences and raise challenges in all the aspects related to the design\, development\, and use of information systems to improve the management of crisis and disaster situations. \nDuring the last editions of the conference\, we have assisted to the emergence of new types of actors that\, in one way or another\, have influenced the way the responses to emergencies are performed nowadays\, especially from the knowledge management perspective. We refer to the citizens immersed in the emergency\, whom\, using their mobile phones or other computing devices are valuable information sources about the context of the emergency. Very interesting publications about this topic can be found at the ISCRAM Digital Library.  However\, little work has been done so far exploring the possibility of providing context-driven\, personalized emergency response services to citizens. Depending of their particular situation\, different citizens may require different attention. Thus\, intelligent context processing can be the driving force to improve the effectiveness of teams in providing help to the people suffering an emergency. Something similar can be said about responders facing specific contexts for their performance.\nTo enforce the discussion about the above and other related topics\, we propose the following theme for the conference: “Towards individual-centric emergency management systems”.  This theme has several derivatives\, like the ones listed below: \nWhat are the requirements of personalized response support systems?\nHow should emergency plans be adapted to fit these requirements?\nWhat services should be provided by individual-centric emergency management systems?\nHow can personalization help response teams and/or citizens?\nHow would citizens be integrated in emergency management teams?\nWhat improvements can citizens bring to emergency management?\nCase studies/real-life experiences \n We look forward to receiving contributions dealing with some of the above topics\, as well as other covering the wide spectrum of crisis response and management. The conference will be arranged in technical tracks. You may find the track list at the Call for Papers.

SUMMARY:14th International Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Response And Management
DESCRIPTION:C³M co-chairs the track Logistics and Supply Chain Management in Crisis Response\nSince its establishment in 2004\, the ISCRAM association has aimed to bring together people from various culture\, knowledge and background to design and develop information systems that improve our capacity to avoid\, prepare for\, respond to and recover from crises\, disasters and catastrophes. The ISCRAM world conference is one of the main events for ISCRAMers to exchange and share to try to reach this goal. Organized every year since 2004 (alternating between America and Europe)\, this conference series provide several original points: \n\nA vibrant mix of (i) scientists from around the world\, (ii) responders from different crisis and disaster management organizations\, (iii) practitioners from industry developing crisis management solutions and services\, and (iii) institution members concerned by crisis management.\nAn interdisciplinary set-up that covers a wide range of scientific domains and facilitates cross-disciplinary discussion and thinking “out of the box” — from social sciences to computer sciences and IT\, including management sciences\, geography\, psychology\, anthropology\, etc.\nAn open vision of “Crisis Response and Management” including humanitarian disasters\, homeland security\, industrial and human-made crisis situations\, accidents of all kinds\, etc.\nThe conference proceedings will have ISBN and ISSN and will be indexed in Scopus\, DBLP\, Google Scholar and Compendex. Proceedings will be available online in the ISCRAM Digital Library.\n\nInterested to submit a paper? See here the CfP:  iscram2017.mines-albi.fr

SUMMARY:Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week (HNPW) 2017
DESCRIPTION:What is Humanitarian Networks & Partnerships Week (HNPW)?\n\n\n\n\n\nHosted by the Swiss Government and co-chaired by the UK’s Department of International Development (DFID) and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)\, the HNPW provides a space for humanitarian networks and partnerships to hold their annual meetings. While these are invitation only\, Wednesday 8th February is an open-door problem-solving event for experienced humanitarian responders. \nThis year\, HNPW will take place from 6-10 February 2017 at the International Conference Centre (CIGC) in Geneva. \nWho is it for? \nMonday\, Tuesday\, Thursday and Friday of the week are reserved for networks and partnerships meetings. \nWednesday the 8th February is open to all humanitarian experts\, whether or not they are affiliated to a network. It is aimed at those who have been involved with humanitarian response and can bring their experience to help solve the most pressing issues facing humanitarian responders today. \nWhy join Humanitarian Networks & Partnerships Week 2017? \nIn 2017\, HNPW will be more interactive than ever. \nOn Wednesday\, 8th February\, taking advantage of networks and partnerships members being in one place\, we are holding interactive sessions which aim to address current humanitarian challenges. Topics include coordination\, information management\, importing priority humanitarian goods\, getting airports up and running quickly\, environmental risks\, training and simulation exercises\, civmil coordination\, disability inclusion and many more. Check hnpw.org for details of specific sessions.  The outcomes of each session will feed into the future work of a variety of task forces and projects. \nThis year’s event offers participants a unique opportunity to: \n\nNetwork with crisis preparedness & response experts and develop new partnerships;\nActively participate in a collaborative approach to resolving common challenges that hinder your work in the field;\nBecome an active contributor to the Leading Edge Programme\, a year-round collaboration platform that enables change in crisis preparedness and response.\n\nJoin us and contribute your expertise. By working together\, across organisations and networks\, countries and regions\, we really can make change happen! \nFor more information and registration see: www.hnpw.org/.
